Immigration busts online prostitution syndicate using WhatsApp, Telegram in Klang and Puchong

, Oct 3 — A prostitution syndicate that sold sexual services online through WhatsApp and Telegram was dismantled in a major immigration crackdown across Klang and Puchong.

The coordinated raids on Oct 1, dubbed “Ops Gegar”, resulted in the arrest of 29 foreign nationals and four Malaysians linked to the trafficking network.

Immigration officials said the syndicate used websites and encrypted messaging apps to reach clients, who were then directed to the first floor of a hotel in Klang.

Thirteen women from Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam were arrested during the Klang raid, along with two undocumented cleaners and two Malaysian handlers.

Clients were charged between RM190 and RM960 for sexual services, with fees varying by the nationality of the women.

Two simultaneous raids on reflexology centres in Puchong later that day led to the arrest of 16 more foreign women, including nationals from Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and .

Two Malaysians suspected of employing undocumented migrants were also detained in connection with the operation.

Authorities said the case is being investigated under several laws, including the Immigration Act, Passport Act and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
