IJM Corp secures RM874mil Elmina data centre contract

KUALA LUMPUR: IJM Corp Bhd’s unit, IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM873.9 million contract from Pearl Computing Malaysia Sdn Bhd for mechanical and electrical (M&E) fit-out works of a hyperscale data centre at Elmina Business Park, .

This follows IJM’s announcement on Oct 23 of a RM1.26 billion core and shell package awarded by a subsidiary of Sime Darby Property Sdn Bhd, both forming part of the same hyperscale data centre development within Elmina Business Park.

Together, the two contracts bring the total project value to over RM2 billion.

The M&E scope covers the supply and installation of mechanical, electrical, security and telecommunication systems, as well as the coordination, commissioning and integration of all related systems and owner-furnished equipment.

Work is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2028.

IJM Corp group chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Lee Chun Fai said the new contract marks a significant scale-up in the company’s data centre portfolio, underscoring market confidence in its delivery capability, execution strength and ability to manage large-scale digital infrastructure projects.

“The Elmina project reflects our growing foothold in Malaysia’s digital infrastructure sector and builds on our collaboration with Sime Darby Property to deliver assets that meet the needs of global technology clients,” he said in a statement.

The latest award increases IJM Construction’s total outstanding order book to about RM15.2 billion — its highest to date — including the group’s share of construction associates in the United Kingdom and Singapore.

Within Malaysia, IJM’s domestic construction order book stands at around RM9.3 billion, with fast-track industrial buildings accounting for about 55 per cent of the total, making it the fastest-growing segment in the portfolio.

The group said it remains well positioned to capitalise on the expanding digital and industrial infrastructure landscape, backed by its experience in data centre delivery, niche capabilities, disciplined project management and strong financial footing.
