KOTA KINABALU, Oct 6 — “I dreamt that today is the best day to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly (DUN),” said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor as he announced the dissolution of the 16th Sabah DUN today.
When asked why he chose October 6, Hajiji replied with a smile, “God willing, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will emerge triumphant.”
He said seat allocations among the GRS–Pakatan Harapan (PH) Plus coalition partners will be finalised soon.
Hajiji also expressed that GRS will support its partners in PH.
At the same time, Hajiji was also asked about the possibility of working with STARSabah after the election and he replied “tidak mungkin” ( impossible).
He added that Sabah Progressive Action Party (SAPP) and STARSabah had decided to use their own party logo.
“Hence, the decision of the leadership council is that whichever party within GRS that uses their own logo will by themselves be out of the GRS coalition,” he said.
He acknowledged that this would lead to multi-cornered contests involving candidates from GRS–PH Plus, SAPP, and STAR Sabah in the upcoming state polls.
Several STAR Sabah assemblymen were present at the event, including Datuk Abidin Madingkir, Datuk Ellron Angin, Datuk Flovia Ng, and Anuar Ayub.
According to Hajiji, they have expressed their support for GRS despite the recent developments.
He also voiced confidence in Parti Bersatu Sabah’s (PBS) continued strength and its role in helping GRS secure victory. — The Borneo Post
