KUCHING: A husband and wife were seriously injured, while their twin sons sustained injuries after the car they were in skidded and crashed into a tree on the Tan Sri Adenan Satem-Kampung Selang Highway here today.

Khalil Arshad Othman, 32, and Fatin Nur Amalina Yusri, 32, were seriously injured while their twin sons, Khaleef Firash Khan Khalil Arshad and Khaleef Farrel Khan, also sustained injuries.

A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations room said they received a call about the incident at 3.15pm.

He said a team of 13 firefighters from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving the call.

Upon arriving at the scene, located 26km from the station, they found that the car had skidded and crashed into a tree on the main road.

“Two victims, the three-year-old twin boys who were injured, were pulled out by members of the public before the fire and rescue team arrived.

“The other two victims, the husband and wife, were extricated by the fire team,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) team administered initial treatment before the ambulance arrived.

“The victims were then handed over to the ambulance team and rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) for further treatment,” he said.
