TELUK INTAN: A human skeleton and skull were found on the upper floor of a two-storey wooden house on Jalan Sungai Nibong here.

The remains are believed to belong to the youngest son of former Pasir Bedamar assemblyman Wah Keng Jooi, who served from 1959 to 1964.

The discovery was made after the victim’s 78-year-old elder brother went to the house at 11am on Saturday to visit his 75-year-old brother and noticed a suspicious smell.

Hilir Perak police chief, Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin, said the elder brother lodged a police report at 2.24pm the same day after he was unable to go upstairs due to the decayed wooden staircase.

“A team from the district police, with assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department, went to the location and conducted an inspection.

“Initial investigations found a human skull and skeleton alongside the victim’s pet dog and several personal belongings on the upper floor of the house,” he said.

He added that the victim had been living alone in the ancestral home left by his family.

“The victim’s remains have been sent to the Forensic Department at Teluk Intan Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said, adding that the case has been classified as sudden death.
