Housing ministry denies viral alcohol claims at event, lodges report with MCMC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry has denied viral claims suggesting the “Cucumber Slider” served at the Minister’s Excellence Awards on Nov 8 contained alcohol.

It said carbonated soft drink was served in a stemmed glass at the event, in line with standard catering practices for formal events, and urged the public to verify information before spreading speculation.

“The ministry takes seriously the spread of inaccurate and misleading information that could damage the ministry’s image and the reputation of guests,” it said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

It said a report has been lodged with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the circulating claims.

The public are advised to verify information with the ministry before making assumptions or spreading unverified claims.

“The ministry remains committed to ensuring all events comply with guidelines, uphold integrity, and respect societal sensitivities.”
