KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 4,667 units of seized sex toys weighing 5.5 tonnes valued at RM146,000 have been destroyed by the Home Ministry.
It said the items were seized in various enforcement operations across Selangor.
“The prohibited items were confiscated during operations that had completed court processes between July 2023 and June last year.
“The disposal was carried out by the ministry’s enforcement and control division on Thursday (Oct 16) after the court ordered the forfeiture of all items under Section 19(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act (AMCP) 1984,” the ministry said in a statement the same day.
The ministry added that the destruction process followed the Guidelines for the Management of Disposal of Case/Seized/Exhibit Items, ensuring all sex toys were completely destroyed, no longer in their original form, and unable to function.
“We are committed to conducting strict enforcement in combating materials or publications that harm morality, public order, or contradict Malaysian sociocultural values.
“Such activities are not only immoral, but they can also undermine societal values and norms,” the ministry said.
The ministry also warned that it will continue taking firm action against any party involved in printing, importing, producing, publishing, selling, or distributing prohibited materials that pose a threat to morality, national security, or public interest.
