Helium gas cylinder explosion damages two stalls, three cars at Kajang food court


KAJANG: Two stalls were severely damaged and three vehicles suffered various damages after a helium gas cylinder exploded at a food court in Sungai Ramal here today.

The incident occurred at about 12 noon and involved a helium cylinder used for inflating balloons.

Kajang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said the explosion damaged two stalls and three vehicles, but no injuries or fatalities were reported.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident does not involve any criminal elements. The exact cause of the explosion and the total losses are still under investigation,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, said the cylinder had been stored in a room measuring 0.92m².

He added that the explosion caused about 30 per cent damage to a Proton Wira, a Perodua Axia, and a Perodua Myvi.
