KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit parts of the Klang Valley this afternoon, with the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) placing Hulu Langat, Sepang and Putrajaya under alert until 5pm.
The agency said the warning, issued at 2pm, also covers several other states, including Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Sarawak.
Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain cautious as weather conditions could worsen over the next few hours.
MetMalaysia said the alert was triggered after radar readings detected signs of thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour.
In Selangor and Putrajaya, local authorities are monitoring areas prone to flash floods and fallen trees.
The public has been advised to postpone outdoor activities and secure loose objects that could be blown away by strong winds.
