The government will spend RM46.5 billion on the healthcare sector next year, with a strong focus on improving hospital infrastructure and equipment.
PETALING JAYA:

The government will allocate a total of RM46.5 billion for the health ministry under the 2026 budget.

Prime Minister Ibrahim said RM1.2 billion will be spent on maintenance and repairs of all government hospitals and clinics, while RM100 million has been allocated to upgrade district hospital wards.

He said RM755 million will go towards replacing outdated medical equipment and acquiring new advanced tools for emerging medical fields.

also said that RM140 million will be allocated to address overcrowding in public hospitals by outsourcing patient care and expanding medical facilities nationwide.

“To reduce reliance on government hospitals, the role of health clinics will be strengthened by expanding access to specialist services by allocating RM30 million,” he added.

The government will also build several new hospitals, clinics and additional blocks, including the Northern Region Cancer Centre in Kedah, new blocks at Hospital Pontian in Johor, Hospital Banting and Hospital Sungai Buloh in , as well as the Advanced Surgical Block at Universiti Sains Malaysia’s specialist hospital in Kubang Kerian, .
