PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry is preparing a Cabinet Memorandum to establish a comprehensive plan for banning electronic cigarettes and vaping.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that further details, including the timing and methodology of the ban, would be announced in the future.
“I cannot preempt the decision that will be made by the Cabinet.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has strongly supported this initiative and has asked me to ensure it is orderly. It will be presented at the right time,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
Dzulkefly said this during a press conference after launching the National Level World Breastfeeding Week Celebration at Pusat Rawatan Islam (Pusrawi) Hospital, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Sept 11).
On Aug 23, Dr Dzulkefly said that the Cabinet Memorandum regarding the vaping ban would be presented to the Cabinet by the end of the year.
The Health Ministry has already presented an initial report from the expert committee to the Cabinet.
