'He was saving for his wedding', says sister of rider killed by fallen tree

MELAKA: The GrabFood rider who was crushed by a fallen tree yesterday had been working hard to save money for his wedding next year.

In the 2pm incident, Muhammad Izzat Daanish Sharil, 22, who was riding a Yamaha Y15ZR, died after a fallen tree crashed onto his motorcycle along Jalan Tun Razak–Ayer Keroh.

His sister, Izzaty Hamidah Sharil, 27, said her only sibling had a full-time job at an indoor entertainment centre but also worked part-time as a p-hailing delivery rider to save money for his wedding, which had been planned for December next year.

She said he had recently completed his marriage course and was known as an independent and responsible person who never wanted to burden the family.

“I miss him so much… he was my only brother. He worked hard to save for his wedding with the girl he loved.

“I never thought my birthday on Nov 29 would be our last memory together,” she said, recalling how she learned about the tragedy from their mother.

Muhammad Izzat Daanish’s remains were laid to rest at the Bukit Lintang Muslim Cemetery around midnight.

“He had been doing deliveries since 2023, and at the time of the incident, he was on a delivery run,” she added.
