Harimau Muda Fail To Qualify For U23 Asian Cup

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) — The national Under 23 (U23) football squad failed to qualify for the final of the 2026 U23 Asian Cup after losing 1-2 to Thailand in the last Group F qualifying match today at Thammasat Stadium, Pathum Thani, Thailand

The Thais opened accounts first with a goal by Kakana Khamyok in the 32nd minute but Malaysia managed to equalise eight minutes later through Ahmad Aysar Hadi Mohd Shapri.

The game was headed to a draw as both teams failed to find their opponent’s net throughout the entire match, but Kahmyok became the hero for the home team when he scored the winning goal in injury time.

Thailand qualifies for next year’s U23 Asian Cup as Group F champions with 7 points, while Lebanon take second place based on goal difference.

Malaysia finish third in Group F with three points from their 7-0 win over Mongolia.
