TUARAN: Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has dismissed claims suggesting that Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin will be replaced as the Opposition leader.
Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said Hamzah’s position remains unchanged and PN has never considered replaced him with anyone else.
“There are no changes. Just keep it as it is.
“He (Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin) cannot be in that position unless he (Hamzah) is replaced.
“It remains as it is now,” he told reporters during Pelancaran Era Baru Pantai Dalit event here today.
Muhyiddin said all speculation that had been circulating in recent days has subsided after all top PN leaders gathered at his residence the day before.
“There are no issues. Everything is going well. They all gave their full support.
“This is a step for us to agree within the Supreme Council so that there will be no ongoing issues.
“Because we want our party (Bersatu) and PN to be solid and strong in facing the upcoming 16th General Election,” he said.
It was reported that talk of Radzi, who is Bersatu vice-president, replacing Hamzah, unexpectedly emerged in the Dewan Rakyat last Wednesday.
It surfaced after Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan jokingly offered his congratulated Radzi during the sitting.
