PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and his deputy Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man retained their positions for the 2025-2027 term after being returned unopposed ahead of the party’s 71st muktamar.
The party’s three vice-presidents – Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Idris Ahmad, and Amar Abdullah – also kept their posts uncontested.
This was confirmed in the official candidate list released today, detailing those who had accepted nominations for the Islamic party’s polls this month.
Hadi has been PAS president since June 2002. He and Tuan Ibrahim have not been challenged for their posts since the 2015 party polls.
PAS central election committee chairman Wan Rohimi Wan Daud said the list was finalised after the committee reviewed the nomination responses at its Sept 2 meeting.
“For the PAS central working committee, 38 candidates accepted their nominations while eight declined, which means that contests will be held for those positions,” he said in a statement today.
He said all positions in the party’s Dewan Ulama Council were uncontested, including that of its chief, Ahmad Yahaya.
Incumbent PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden also retained his post unopposed, while Hafez Sabri was confirmed as his deputy and Ahmad Fadhli Shaari as permanent youth chairman, both uncontested.
The women’s wing will continue to be led by Nuridah Salleh, unopposed, with Rosni Adam as her deputy.
Wan Rohimi said only elections for the central working committee, youth and women’s wings will take place at the congress, scheduled for the end of this month.
