KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Armizan Ali has thanked voters for delivering three seats to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the 17th Sabah General Election.
In a Facebook post, the Papar member of parliament wrote: “A million thanks to Paparians (GRS 3–0). Insya-Allah, we will fulfil the mandate to the best of our ability.”
The coalition fielded incumbents Datuk Juil Nuatim and Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar to defend the Limbahau and Kawang seats respectively.
Juil faced a nine-cornered contest that included Upko’s Nelson Angang, SAPP’s Edward Dagul, Warisan’s Roger Amandus, PKDM’s Malik Luman, PIS’s Joseph Philip Kulip, PN’s Adrian Alexander Alim, and independents Linda Dunstan and Marcellus Tambud.
Ghulam, now serving his sixth term as Kawang assemblyman, faced five challengers, led by Papar Umno chief Jamal Nerubi of BN, alongside Warisan’s Nin Jelih, Star Sabah’s Beverly Natalie Koh, and PIS’s Samail Bulongik.
In Pantai Manis, Pg Saifuddin Pg Tahir Petra defeated six other contenders.
