PUTRAJAYA: The government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the Bumiputera economic empowerment agenda remains relevant, inclusive, and aligned with future economic demands.
Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said this focus is crucial within an increasingly challenging global trade and investment landscape.
He noted that the matter was a key highlight during the Bumiputera Economic Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.
“This meeting serves as an essential platform to coordinate policies, strengthen implementation, and evaluate the effectiveness of Bumiputera economic development initiatives at the national level,” he said in a Facebook post.
He added that the session also detailed the country’s strategic direction regarding trade and investment.
Johari said discussions centred on empowering Bumiputera participation in high-value sectors.
This includes boosting the competitiveness of local enterprises and ensuring broader access to financing, markets, and supply chain opportunities.
“The government’s continuous commitment is to ensure that the Bumiputera economic empowerment agenda stays relevant and inclusive, meeting the needs of the future economy,” he said.
