KUALA LUMPUR: The government will absorb RM591.56 million in 2026 to prevent toll rate increases on 10 major highways.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the decision, approved retrospectively at yesterday’s cabinet meeting, aimed at maintaining the current toll rates.
“The decision aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement in July, in which the government confirmed that the public would continue to enjoy existing toll rates without any increase.
“This allocation reflects the Madani government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the people while ensuring inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
“It also demonstrates the government’s determination to ease the cost-of-living burden on the public, particularly highway users, by keeping toll rates unchanged throughout 2026,” he said in a statement today.

The 10 highways are the Cheras–Kajang Highway (GRANDSAGA), KL–Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAE), New North Klang Strait Bypass (NNKSB), Senai–Desaru Expressway (SDE), East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2), South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge, Duta–Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), Kuala Lumpur–Putrajaya Expressway (MEX), and Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB).
Nanta added that the ministry would continue working closely with all stakeholders to ensure the nation’s highways were managed sustainably, efficiently, and in line with the Madani government’s people-first agenda.
In July, the government had announced it was absorbing over RM500 million to prevent toll rate increases on the same expressways.
