KUALA LUMPUR: The Government Procurement Bill 2025 does not sacrifice national and bumiputra interests, says Datuk Seri Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said the Bill continues to support key national policies and priorities.

“It allows room for the government to uphold national priorities, including the bumiputra agenda, and supports local goods, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and green procurement,” he said while tabling the Bill for its second reading in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Aug 27).

, who is also the Finance Minister, said procurement activities will no longer be monopolised by large contractors or cartels.

In drafting this Bill, said the government conducted extensive research and stakeholder engagements.

“The process involved consultation with federal and state governments, local authorities, contractor associations, professional bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and academics,” he said

The proposal was also tabled at the State Financial Officers Meeting and the National Finance Council Meeting, which included the Chief Ministers and Mentris Besar.
