Govt aims to end hardcore poverty in first quarter of 2026, says Anwar

: Malaysia has been recognised as one of the countries close to eliminating hardcore poverty through the implementation of people-focused policies and programmes under the current government’s administration, says Datuk Seri Ibrahim.

“Malaysia is recognised globally for being close to ending hardcore poverty, and we are thankful the figure has declined to 0.09%,” he said at the closing of the Rancakkan Madani Bersama Malaysiaku programme here on Sunday (Dec 7). The three-day programme began on Friday (Dec 5),

added that he was optimistic the remaining cases could be addressed in the first quarter of 2026, enabling Malaysia to eradicate hardcore poverty.

He described the achievement as historic, made possible through cooperation among ministries, agencies and state governments via initiatives.
