PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has been recognised as one of the countries close to eliminating hardcore poverty through the implementation of people-focused policies and programmes under the current government’s administration, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Malaysia is recognised globally for being close to ending hardcore poverty, and we are thankful the figure has declined to 0.09%,” he said at the closing of the Rancakkan Madani Bersama Malaysiaku programme here on Sunday (Dec 7). The three-day programme began on Friday (Dec 5),
Anwar added that he was optimistic the remaining cases could be addressed in the first quarter of 2026, enabling Malaysia to eradicate hardcore poverty.
He described the achievement as historic, made possible through cooperation among ministries, agencies and state governments via initiatives.
According to Anwar, the milestone reflected the success of the government’s economic policy. – Bernama
