There will be “good news” for civil servants and Malaysians under the government’s upcoming budget for 2026, says Chief Secretary Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
“The budget will definitely have good news, it won’t be disappointing. There will be good news for civil servants, and Malaysians as a whole,” he told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.
In August 2024, Putrajaya announced that civil servants in top management would receive a 7% wage hike under the new Public Service Remuneration System, while those categorised as implementers, managers and professionals would get a 15% increase.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said this would be executed in phases with the first phase taking place from December 2024 and the second in January 2026.
Civil servants categorised as implementers, managers and professionals will receive an 8% increase in Phase 1 and a 7% increase in Phase 2, while those in top management will receive a 4% increase in Phase 1 and a 3% increase in Phase 2.
