PETALING JAYA:

The government is set to announce some good news this week for victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline blaze, says housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming.

Nga said he would make the announcement with menteri besar Amirudin Shari sometime this week, Bernama reported.

“The menteri besar and I will announce some good news (for the victims). There will be a very good recovery plan unlike any other that has been implemented before for victims of fires,” he was quoted as saying.

The fire on April 1 wrecked 81 homes, with structural damage exceeding 40%.

Another 81 homes were partially damaged, 57 affected but not burned, while 218 homes remained unaffected, including those in Kampung Tengah, Puchong.

The state government has formed a recovery committee to oversee efforts to rebuild homes and public infrastructure affected by the fire.
