Gaza-Bound Aid Flotilla Sends Nine Ships To Break Israeli Blockade, Prepares Six More

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Group A delegation of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which recently docked in Tunisia, has resumed its voyage towards Gaza.

According to an update by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM Malaysia) on Instagram, the group is set to rendezvous with Group B, currently awaiting them at sea.

“After navigating rough waters from Barcelona to Tunisia, the Malaysian delegation remains resolute in its mission,” said MAPIM.

The organisation described the journey as more than a humanitarian effort, calling it ‘a declaration that the voices of the oppressed cannot be silenced’.

“This mission seeks to halt the war, fight starvation and pressure the global community to open the long-blocked humanitarian corridor,” it added.

Malaysian volunteers are sailing under the Sumud Nusantara banner, led by Cinta Gaza Malaysia chief executive officer Muhammad Nadir Al Nuri Kamaruzaman.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim serves as patron of Sumud Nusantara, which includes participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, the Philippines and Thailand.

The flotilla, carrying food, medical supplies and a message of peace, is expected to reach the waters off Gaza by mid-September.

The GSF comprises over 1,000 volunteers aboard nearly 70 vessels, with a shared goal of breaking the blockade on Gaza. It aims to draw global attention and pressure governments to act against Israel’s siege and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.

The GSF coalition spans Europe, Asia, South Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, with all delegations committed to non-violence and using the flotilla as a symbol of international solidarity with Gaza.
