Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong said Gerakan cannot afford to sit out the Sabah state polls as ‘it is pointless to practise if you don’t contest in any matches’.
GEORGE TOWN:

Gerakan today revealed that Api-Api will be among the three seats it plans to contest in the coming Sabah state election.

Deputy president Oh Tong Keong told a press conference today that the party’s election team has already identified potential candidates and will soon submit their names to the leadership for deliberation.

He also said that Gerakan could not afford to sit out the Sabah polls, saying that “it is pointless to practise if you don’t contest in any matches”.

Api-Api, currently held by ‘s Christina Liew for a fourth term, has 43.5% Chinese voters and 40.1% Sabah Bumiputeras.

It is speculated that the Sabah assembly will be dissolved this month to make way for elections, following the departure of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku and Sabah Progressive Party from the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition over disagreements on joining forces with Pakatan Harapan.
