KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) — Geotab Inc (Geotab), a global leader in connected vehicle and asset solutions, has launched a major upgrade to its cold chain solution, aiming to combat massive food losses in Southeast Asia caused by inadequate temperature-controlled logistics.

The region sees up to 90 per cent of food waste occur during transportation, largely due to fragmented infrastructure and poor cold chain management.

Geotab’s enhanced solution directly addresses this with advanced hardware and intelligent software for greater visibility, control, and compliance.

Its associate vice president for Asia Pacific, David Brown said the cold chain solution is designed to help businesses protect temperature-sensitive goods, reduce waste, meet regulatory requirements, and operate more sustainably.

“These upgrades are crucial for industries such as food production and logistics, especially in regions where climate extremes and long transport distances pose major challenges,” he said in a statement.

Central to the upgrade are two new hardware devices—IOX-COLD for in-cabin use and IOX-COLD RUGGED, an IP67-rated version for external mounting. Both offer direct integration with major original equipment manufacturer (OEM) refrigeration units, streamlining installation and reducing points of failure.

On the software side, Geotab has enhanced its MyGeotab platform with near real-time monitoring, multi-zone temperature support, dynamic historical analysis, advanced alerting, and remote command capabilities for supported units.

The system is designed for industries handling temperature-sensitive products—such as food, beverages, and pharmaceuticals—offering improved logistics performance and greater peace of mind.

With this upgrade, Geotab positions itself as a critical player in modernising cold chain logistics across Southeast Asia.
