PETALING JAYA:

A gang leader was killed in a shootout at Jalan Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur early this morning, say police.

Bukit Aman acting criminal investigation department (CID) director Fadil Marsus said the suspect had a criminal record with 44 previous cases, and was believed to be the mastermind behind a group involved in house break-ins and drug trafficking in Kuala Lumpur, and Perak.

The shootout occurred at 4.10am during a special operation conducted by Bukit Aman CID and Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, Harian Metro reported.

Fadil said a pistol believed to have been used during the shootout was also seized from the suspect.
