KOTA KINABALU: Friends and political leaders from across the divide have gathered at the hospital where Kinabatangan MP and Sabah Barisan Nasional () chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin is receiving treatment.

Among those visiting were Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin, also Sabah secretary; Kawang assemblyman Datuk Seri Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar; and Tempasuk assemblyman Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari, both from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

After their visits, several leaders approached by Bernama declined to comment on Bung Moktar’s condition, urging the public to pray for his health.

Social media has likewise been flooded with messages and prayers for his recovery, regardless of political affiliations.

Parti Warisan Information chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman said: “Our prayers are also with his family and friends… that they continue to be patient, blessed with spiritual strength and calmness in facing this challenge.”

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah vice-president Datuk Masiung Banah, who is also the Kuamut assemblyman, echoed the sentiment, saying although they have different political leanings, they remained close friends.

“May he be granted eternal health, and may his family be granted peace and fortitude through God’s trials.”

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, in a brief statement, prayed for Bung Moktar’s swift recovery and for smooth management of his treatment.

“May Allah SWT grant strength, patience and protection to him and his family in facing this test. Surely, every trial has its lessons. Insha-Allah, he will recover quickly,” he said.

Sabah deputy chief Datuk Seri Rahman Dahlan also prayed for a speedy recovery, asking that all matters related to his treatment be facilitated.

According to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Bung Moktar’s son, Naim Kurniawan Moktar, said his father is in critical condition at Gleneagles Hospital, though the exact illness has not been disclosed.

“We remain hopeful and pray for his full recovery as the medical team continues to provide the best care possible,” he said.
