SINGAPORE: A French soft cheese is being recalled in Singapore due to a possible risk of listeria contamination, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said on Wednesday.
The Vieux Porche Buchette brand cheese, which was imported from France, has also been withdrawn from shelves in its country of origin.
“Consumers who have bought the affected product should not eat it,” the SFA said in a statement.
Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne bacterium that can cause food poisoning, with symptoms including fever, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhoea.
The SFA said the infection can be fatal for pregnant women, infants and people with weakened immune systems.
The agency added: “Those who have eaten the implicated product and are concerned about their health should seek medical advice.” – BERNAMA
