SHAH ALAM: The fourth Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian aid convoy is expected to depart for Gaza in the middle or at the end of November, says Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (Mapim) president Muhammad Azmi Abdul Hamid.

He said GSF would use its experience to prepare the convoy with a more organised strategy to break through the Zionist military blockade.

“We are planning to enter the waters of Gaza before Ramadan. Therefore, we are targeting that the convoy should begin its journey by the middle or the end of next month at the latest.

“We will also hold discussions at the international level to review the three previous flotilla missions that were intercepted by the Israeli military and to draw up a strategy to break through their blockade,” he told reporters at the Mapim headquarters here on Wednesday (Oct 15).

Muhammad Azmi said so far, the size of the fleet involved remained the same, namely 1,000 boats and ships from all over the world carrying various types of aid, before assembling in the Mediterranean Sea.

He said the convoy would also be joined by several groups from the waters of Gibraltar, Barcelona, Tunisia, Italy and Türkiye. They would enter Palestine through the waters of Gaza separately.

In another development, Muhammad Azmi said his organisation had met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim to present a proposal to send 200 containers of essential goods to Gaza through the land route, namely the Rafah crossing. — Bernama
