Four robbery suspects held after attack on foreign worker


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested four men in connection with an armed robbery involving a Bangladeshi contractor at a house in Taman Pulai Mutiara here, on Oct 23.

During the robbery, which occurred at 7am, the suspects, one of whom was armed with a hoe, tied up the 43-year-old victim before fleeing with his personal belongings and construction tools.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said acting on intelligence, police arrested four men, aged between 32 and 42, at Taman Pulai Utama, Kangkar Pulai, at 9pm on Oct 26.

He said checks revealed that three of the suspects had prior criminal and drug-related records, while urine tests returned positive for methamphetamine.

Police also seized several stolen items, including a grass cutter, a grinder and clothing believed to have been used during the robbery, he said today.

All four suspects were remanded for seven days until Nov 2 to assist in investigations under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery, which carry prison terms of up to 30 years and whipping upon conviction.
