Y. Sayrran Kumar, 21; Thineshwaran, 30; G. Niresh Pillai, 21; and K. Kumar, 40; pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them before Judge Datin Surita Budin.

The four were charged separately with raping the girl, aged 11 years and 10 months, at a house in a residential area in Jempol between 11am and 3.30pm on Aug 23.

Sayrran Kumar also faced an additional charge of raping the girl in the back seat of a car in front of Taman ACBE in June this year.

He was further charged with raping another girl, aged 12, at a house in Jempol between 11.30am and noon on Aug 23.

All of them were charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.

Deputy public prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni proposed bail of RM30,000 for each accused with additional conditions, including for them to stay away from the victim and witnesses, to report to the nearest police station once a month, and to surrender their passports to the court.

Lawyers representing the accused pleaded for lower bail.

Lawyer Revin Kumar represented Sayrran Kumar and Niresh, while lawyers S. Virochean and Ramzani Idris represented Kumar and Thineshwaran respectively.

The court later fixed bail at RM10,000 with one surety for each charge for Sayrran Kumar, Kumar, and Thineshwaran. Surita also fixed bail at RM5,000 for Niresh.

The court granted the additional conditions as requested by Norazihah and set Oct 15 for mention.
