ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested four local men suspected of being involved in an armed robbery against a Bangladeshi worker at Taman Pulai Mutiara here last Thursday.

District police chief ACP M. Kumarasan said the incident occurred at about 7am while the 43-year-old victim was carrying out renovation work at the complainant’s house.

He said the suspects, armed with a hoe, tied up the victim before fleeing with his belongings and construction tools from the house.

“Acting on information, a police team from the Iskandar Puteri District Criminal Investigation Division arrested four local men aged between 32 and 42 in Taman Pulai Utama, Kangkar Pulai, at 9pm on Oct 26,” he said in a statement today.

Checks revealed that three of the suspects had criminal and drug-related records, and urine tests showed they tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police also seized several items including a grass-cutting machine, a grinder, and clothing believed to have been used during the robbery.

Kumarasan said all suspects had been remanded for seven days from today, and that the case was being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and Section 397 of the same Act for armed robbery or causing hurt.
