SUBANG JAYA: Police seized 14 motorcycles and arrested four youths for dangerous riding during a late-night traffic enforcement operation along the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) which began yesterday and ended early this morning.
The operation was carried out by Subang Jaya police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department with assistance of their Selangor counterparts.
It began at 11.30pm near the Batu 13 Puchong toll plaza and involved a deployment of 118 personnel, including 11 officers.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said 120 people and 115 motorcycles were inspected during the operation.
“A total of 56 summonses were issued for various traffic offences. We also detected a motorcyclist riding under the influence of alcohol.
“He is being investigated under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement.
Wan Azlan said another four riders were detained under Section 42 of the same act for reckless and dangerous riding.
“Police also seized 14 motorcycles, mostly for illegal modifications and for being ridden without a valid licence,” he said.
Wan Azlan reminded parents and guardians to play a proactive role in curbing illegal racing among teenagers.
“We urge parents to monitor their children’s movements to ensure they do not get involved in illegal racing activities that can endanger their lives and other road users,” he said.
He added that similar operations will continue at identified hotspots in Subang Jaya to curb unlawful and irresponsible behaviour on the road.
