KUALA LUMPUR: A 27-year-old woman was found dead in a condominium unit at Bandar Baru Sri Petaling yesterday.
Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook said police received a call at about 11.35am from the landlord, who was unable to contact her tenant.
He said the landlord had also been alerted by the building management to a foul smell coming from the unit at the condominium.
“A police patrol team was dispatched to the scene together with the landlord and a locksmith.
“When the door was forced open, officers discovered the body of the tenant, hanging in the bathroom,” he said when contacted today.
He said the victim’s body was already in a state of decomposition, with strong odour and visible changes to the skin.
“Preliminary checks showed the house was locked from the inside, and the victim’s personal belongings, including her mobile phone and handbag, were found intact.
“The victim had been living alone since early this year and was believed to be running an online clothing business,” he said, adding that the landlord last spoke to her on Sept 4 regarding overdue rent payments.
Hoo said police have classified the case as sudden death (SDR).
A post-mortem will be conducted at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HUKM) today to confirm the cause of death.
“Forensic officers from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters and a medical officer from Kuala Lumpur Hospital were also present at the scene and confirmed the death at about 1.45pm yesterday.
“Police will be recording statements from the victim’s family,” he said.
