SANDAKAN, Nov 9 — Former Sabah DAP chairman and ex-Tanjong Papat assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung, along with his secretary Liau Fui Fui, have officially joined the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM).

Both will contest in the 17th Sabah State Election under KDM for Tanjong Papat and Elopura seats.

KDM deputy president Datuk Wetrom Bahanda expressed confidence in their capabilities, emphasising that KDM is inclusive and not limited to any one community.

The party plans to contest 38 seats statewide, including two in Sandakan, with further announcements expected before November 13 in Kota Kinabalu.

Poon said he chose a local party to prioritise Sabahans’ welfare, while Liau highlighted his eight years of political experience and commitment to grassroots development.

KDM acting president Priscella Peter affirmed the party’s focus on youth and community engagement, expressing confidence in Poon and Liau’s ability to run effective campaigns.

The launch for KDM’s East Coast Zone in Sandakan drew over 2,000 members from 105 branches. — Daily Express
