KUALA LUMPUR:

A Form 3 student was stabbed to death by a junior at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya this morning.

The incident occurred at around 9.30am. The suspect, a male Form 1 student, was reportedly armed with a knife.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said the boy had been arrested while police were still identifying the motive.

“This is a heartbreaking incident…we are still investigating. What’s very sad is that the 16-year-old girl passed away at the scene.

“We have yet to determine the motive behind the incident and are still conducting further investigations,” he told reporters here, adding that the stabbing occurred within the school compound.

Khalid said police chief Shazeli Kahar would issue a statement on the case.
