Forest fire breaks out in Taman Sri Gombak


KUALA LUMPUR: A forest fire broke out near the Air water tank area in Taman Sri Gombak Phase 7, Pinggiran Batu Caves late last night.

Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a team from the Selayang fire station was deployed to the scene after the department received the emergency call at 11.49pm.

“The first fire engine arrived at the scene at 11.58pm.

“The operations commander reported that the blaze affected an area measuring roughly 100 by 200 square feet.

“Firefighting operations were conducted by 10 firefighters, supported by a fire rescue tender, a compact fire rescue tender, and a water tanker,” he said in a statement.

Mukhlis added that the fire was fully extinguished at about 1.50am.
