The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has completed a forensic report on the controversial videos linked to an alleged mining scandal in Sabah, says MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki.
Speaking at a press conference today, Azam said the report prepared by the anti-graft agency’s forensics department was submitted to the case’s investigating officer about a week ago.
Azam said the investigating officer had been instructed to question all individuals connected to the videos to verify the contents, which he said was essential before any further action could be taken.
“I’ve instructed the investigating officer to gather fresh statements from everyone involved,” he said.
Azam added that once the statements had been collected, the deputy public prosecutor could review the investigation from all angles.
He declined to comment when asked about the videos’ authenticity.
Last year, an alleged mining scandal was reported after a series of videos linking several Sabah assemblymen were leaked.
The videos allegedly depict discussions involving bribery and misconduct related to mineral exploration projects in Sabah.
In February, Azam said the initial batch of videos lacked credibility as they were heavily edited.
