KUALA LUMPUR: The overall disaster situation nationwide during the current monsoon season has worsened sharply as of noon today, according to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).
In its latest disaster report as of 4pm, Nadma says three states involving five districts remain affected, with 441 victims from 113 families currently displaced, compared with 112 victims recorded on Dec 26.
The number has been rising steadily since reaching its lowest point on Dec 25, when only 22 victims were recorded nationwide, after declining from a peak of 15,138 victims on Dec 19.
The cumulative death toll stands at four, unchanged since yesterday, with the most recent fatality recorded in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, on Dec 26.
A total of six temporary evacuation centres remain operational nationwide, Nadma reports.
In Terengganu, floods continue to affect Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Dungun. Kuala Nerus records 355 victims from 86 families, Kuala Terengganu 71 victims from 19 families, and Dungun 13 victims from two families.
In Pahang, landslides affect Cameron Highlands, involving 18 victims from five families, while in Sarawak, a landslide in Miri displaces four victims.
Nadma further warns of continuous very heavy rain expected in parts of Kelantan — including Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh — as well as Terengganu, namely Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Marang, until Dec 29.
