KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees nationwide has risen to 32,609 tonight, up from 24,907 this morning.
The National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC) reported that 10,847 families were seeking refuge at around 200 relief centres across 32 districts as of 8pm.
Kelantan recorded the highest number of evacuees, with 11,033 people from 4,180 families at 65 centres across nine districts. Tumpat has the most victims at 4,671, although the NDCC noted a downward trend there and in Bachok. Meanwhile, numbers in Kota Baru and Machang are increasing.
Perlis follows with 6,556 evacuees from 1,935 families at 20 centres.
In Perak, 5,030 people from 1,618 families are sheltered at 44 centres across eight districts. Manjung has the highest number of evacuees at 1,951, while Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak and Bagan Datuk are also seeing rising numbers.

Kedah has 4,142 evacuees from 1,414 families at 18 centres across three districts, with Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar and Pokok Sena recording an upward trend.
Terengganu reported 3,300 people from 1,023 families at 38 centres across six districts, with numbers increasing in Marang and Setiu.
Selangor is sheltering 2,529 people from 669 families at 14 centres across four districts, with rising numbers in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
Pahang has 19 evacuees from eight families at a single centre in Lipis.
