SHAH ALAM: Five anglers who went missing after their boat capsized in bad weather in waters off Pulau Ketam near here on Sunday were found safe on Monday afternoon.

‎Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director Cpt (M) Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said the men, four locals and one foreigner, 23 to 57, were found at 4.47pm at a fish cage near Pulau Ketam after they swam to the nearby cage when their boat capsized.

“They were all taken to the Kampung Telok Nipah fishermen’s jetty by the boat PENGGALANG 31 and sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for further action,” he said, adding that two men suffered injuries to their legs due to fish stings.

The MMEA had received a report about the missing men when a family member reported them missing on Sunday, while the maritime community reported discovering an overturned fibreglass boat about 1.5 nautical miles southwest of Pulau Ketam at 12.50pm on Monday, prompting the mobilisation of two MMEA assets to the area to conduct a search.

At 4.47pm the same day, the Maritime Operations Centre received word that the five missing men had been found at the fish cage.
