BENTONG: A three-tonne lorry and a van were destroyed in a fire that razed a squatter house (rumah kongsi) in Taman Anggerik here today.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said the Bentong fire station was alerted to the incident at 4.16pm and seven firefighters were deployed to the scene.
“A man occupying the temporary structure escaped the fire. The premises, a lorry and a van were completely destroyed.
“Firefighters and five members of the Perting volunteer fire squad brought the blaze under control at 4.40pm. The operation ended about 45 minutes later,” he said today.
He said no one was injured and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
