Fire destroys 5 food stalls, damages vehicles at Kota Damansara PPR


PETALING JAYA: A fire at a People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Kota Damansara today destroyed five food stalls and damaged five vehicles.

Fire and Rescue Department Operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received a call about the incident at 6.06pm, and firefighters from the Sungai Buloh station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“The fire completely destroyed five food stalls. The vehicles affected included a Proton Saga, 20 per cent burnt; a Proton Wira, 60 per cent burnt; and three motorcycles, each about 50 per cent damaged.

“The fire was brought under control at 6.24pm, although extinguishing efforts are still ongoing. Personnel from the Damansara, Petaling Jaya and Hartamas fire and rescue stations also assisted in the operation,” he said in a statement today.

Mukhlis added that the operation involved 28 personnel, three Fire Rescue Tenders, three Emergency Medical Rescue Services units, three Rapid Intervention Motorcycles, and one water tanker.

No casualties had been reported in the incident.
