PUTRAJAYA, Sept 20 — A fire broke out in the kitchen of a cinema located in a shopping mall here, resulting in damage to nearly 30 per cent of the area at 10am today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call at 10.08am, and seven firefighters from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene, located 17 kilometres away.
“Operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohamad Ramdani Doriat reported that the fire involved the kitchen of the cinema on the third floor, covering an area of 20 by 30 feet.
“The fire had already been extinguished before firefighters arrived at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, GSC, in a Facebook posting, said screenings at GSC IOI City Mall 2 (East) were cancelled until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances.
However, as of 2.30pm today, they updated that screenings have since resumed as usual. — Bernama
