KUALA LUMPUR: The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has yet to issue an official statement on the Football Association of Malaysia’s (FAM) appeal against the sanctions involving seven Harimau Malaya heritage players.
The issue has become a major talking point among local football fans, who are still awaiting the appeal decision over allegations of document falsification involving the players.
Malaysia’s legal representative in the case, Serge Vittoz, earlier said the official decision was expected to be announced as early as Oct 30, 2025, after FIFA’s Appeals Committee concluded its meeting.
“We were informed today (Oct 17) that the official decision will be issued on Oct 30, 2025, by FIFA’s Appeals Committee. It will most likely be communicated to the relevant parties on the same day or a few days later,” Vittoz said at a press conference several weeks ago.
However, Harimau Malaya supporters were left disappointed last Thursday when FIFA did not release any statement on its official website regarding the appeal outcome.
As of this morning, there have been no new updates on FIFA’s website, further fuelling speculation among local fans and observers over the fate of the seven heritage players.
The appeal outcome is crucial in determining the future of the Harimau Malaya squad — whether the existing sanctions will be upheld or overturned entirely.
If the decision goes against Malaysia, FAM is expected to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to seek justice and defend the nation’s footballing rights and reputation.
