PUTRAJAYA: Media Prima News and Current Affairs deputy group managing editor and New Straits Times group editor Farrah Naz Abd Karim, together with Media Prima On-Air Presentation News and Current Affairs Division general manager Kamaruddin Mape, were honoured with the MiSHA 2025 Pena Emas Award.
The prestigious recognition, presented by Alliance for a Safe Community chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and former Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) director-general Omar Mat Piah, celebrates journalism that advances public understanding of workplace safety and health.
Other recipients included media practitioners from Astro Awani, Suria FM, Star Media Group, Bernama Radio, Radio Televisyen Malaysia’s Radio Programme Division and TV AlHijrah.
The award ceremony was attended by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, who said the event is not merely a celebration of trophies or accolades, but a testament to the collective commitment of the government, industry and professional bodies in promoting a sustainable culture of occupational safety and health.
The minister also congratulated the Malaysian Industrial Safety and Health Association (MiSHA) for elevating the award to the Asean level, with participation from countries including Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, India, the Philippines and Indonesia.
He said the achievements of the award recipients symbolised trust, responsibility and leadership, underscoring the media’s critical role in shaping awareness and accountability on workplace safety across the region.
Dzulkefly added that occupational safety and health was no longer a peripheral issue but central to national well-being and productivity, stressing that every worker deserved to return home safe and protected from workplace-acquired diseases.
