'FAM should not go to CAS to avoid further damage to its credibility'

KOTA BARU: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) has been urged to accept FIFA’s sanctions over falsified documents involving seven heritage players.

FA (KAFA) secretary-general Husin Deraman said FAM’s decision to bring the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) was also inappropriate.

He said FIFA’s reasoning was already there, and taking the case to CAS would only further damage FAM’s credibility.

“In terms of professionalism, my advice is that FAM does not need to appeal because there are no grounds for an appeal,” he said.

“Looking at the facts, there is simply no basis to present to CAS.”

He added that FAM should move on and treat the incident as an important lesson for the future.

“FIFA’s standards of professionalism in handling issues involving its member associations are very high. In this case, it would be better for FAM to comply with FIFA’s decision,” he said.
