KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor captain Faisal Halim scored the winner in their 2-1 Super League win over Sabah at the Likas Stadium on Saturday.
The nippy winger’s strike in the 58th minute condemned the home side to their fourth defeat of the season, deepening their struggles in the league.
The thrilling encounter saw the Rhinos take the lead through Fergus Tierney’s header in the eighth minute.
However, the Red Giants clawed their way back, with Alvin Fortes’ equaliser (43rd) leaving both teams level at halftime.
Selangor emerged from the break with renewed aggression, and it was Faisal who fired home the winning goal.
The win leaves Selangor fifth in the 13-team standings with 13 points from eight matches, while Sabah remain 10th with only four points.
At the KLFA Stadium, Kuala Lumpur City recorded a 2-1 win over Kelantan The Real Warriors (KTRW).
The City Boys took the lead through Kpah Sherman (65th) before Zhafri Yahya doubled their lead (81st). KTRW grabbed a consolation through Syafik Ismail (90th+3).
Unbeaten KL remain second in the standings with 20 points from eight matches, while KTRW are seventh with 11 points.
Meanwhile, this season’s surprise package Kuching City mauled Police 5-0 at the Selayang Stadium.
The Cats’ goals came from Yuki Tanigawa (13th), Ronald Ngah’s hat-trick (20th, 31st and 37th) and Ramadhan Saifullah Usman’s spotkick (54th).
The Sarawak side are third in the table with 17 points from eight matches, while Police sit eighth with 11 points.
