Faisal Halim divorce not due to 'money or looks', says lawyer

KUALA LUMPUR: The lawyer of Nur Syazwani Mizuana Shahril, wife of Selangor FC footballer Faisal Halim, denied claims she filed for divorce over money issues or his physical condition.

Lawyer Roshdan Sujak Rafie said he was informed that the cause of the divorce between Faisal and Nur Syazwani Mizuana was believed to be due to incompatibility, and that they had not been living under the same roof for the past month.

“I read netizens’ comments saying my client filed for divorce because Faisal had no money and was no longer handsome. All this is not true.

“I was informed that they simply no longer had compatibility,” he said.

Asked about his client’s condition at present, Roshdan said Nur Syazwani Mizuana was in good condition as she had prepared herself, knowing that Faisal has many fans who wanted to know about their situation.

Roshdan said that during proceedings before Syariah Judge Mohd Hairuddin Ab Rahim at the Klang Lower Syariah Court yesterday, Faisal’s lawyer informed the court that the Selangor FC player had once pronounced talaq outside court and that they had reconciled afterward.

“My client filed for divorce, but during the proceedings yesterday Faisal’s lawyer told the court that his client had once pronounced divorce and reconciled, so there needs to be confirmation and a hearing first to determine the number of talaq,” he said.

He added that matters concerning custody of their only son had not yet been discussed as they wanted to first settle the confirmation of the out-of-court talaq pronouncement.

Meanwhile, Faisal’s lawyer, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, also confirmed that the cause of the divorce was incompatibility.

“Yes, that is what was informed, because of incompatibility,” he said.

According to him, Faisal claimed to have pronounced divorce on June 15 and reconciled the following day.

“They did not register the divorce and reconciliation, so the confirmation proceedings for the out-of-court talaq must be conducted first,” he said.

During the proceedings yesterday, Mohd Hairuddin set Oct 16 for the next mention of the case.

 Faisal, also known as Mickey, married Nur Syazwani on March 9, 2019, and they were blessed with a son, Khalish Aryan.
