SHAH ALAM: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the government is scheduled to meet representatives from X later today amid concerns over the misuse of its artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, in Malaysia.
Fahmi said the meeting would take place this afternoon, adding that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) would issue an official statement following the discussion.
“We will be meeting X this afternoon. After that, MCMC will release a statement,” he told reporters.
Speaking after launching Pos Malaysia’s autonomous vehicle proof-of-concept (PoC) at Pusat Mel Nasional here today, Fahmi welcomed what he described as X’s more receptive stance in responding to feedback from governments across different countries.
“I welcome X’s attitude in beginning to manage the feedback given by various countries and various governments,” he said.
He added that the platform had also started making changes to the Grok application, following mounting scrutiny by regulators globally and in Malaysia over content generated by the chatbot.
Malaysia, through MCMC, has been assessing Grok over concerns related to harmful and inappropriate content, with authorities previously signalling that firm action would be taken if platform safeguards were found to be inadequate.
Fahmi did not elaborate on the details of the meeting or the specific changes made to Grok, saying further information would be conveyed through MCMC’s forthcoming statement.
